A born-and-raised Victorian, Tristin spent eight years with the National Post, becoming one of the most widely read writers on the Postmedia Network. The former Yukon associate editor for Up Here Magazine, he has also contributed to Reader’s Digest, Maisonneuve and the Globe and Mail. A frequent media commentator, he is a regular CTV panelist and has appeared on the BBC, HLN and CBC affiliates in every Canadian time zone.
Blending a background in business and editorial management, Alex worked as the Business Manager for the Martlet, UVic’s independent newspaper, before joining The Capital. At the Martlet, Alex oversaw key changes to board-level policy and the streamlining of operations which helped facilitate organizational sustainability. Previously, Alex was also the Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal The Albatross, and has assisted in event management for various festivities in Victoria.
Oumar comes to Victoria fresh off a stint as a producer for CBC Edmonton. Prior to that, he was Editor-in-Chief of The Gateway, the University of Alberta’s student paper. While at The Gateway, he oversaw the largest increase in online readership in the paper’s history so far. Oumar also has a background in independent radio, including as a contributor to Let’s Find Out, a podcast about Edmonton history.
